CHEMTREAT AH3 is a powdered blend of alkalis used for boiling-out boilers prior to startup commissioning and for removing moderate contamination by oil. It is also used as a preliminary treatment when removing scale containing a high proportion of calcium sulfate. CHEMTREAT AH3 is also used to neutralize residual acid traces and to passivate metal surfaces after acid cleaning.
The concentration of CHEMTREAT AH3 will depend on the application. However, it will normally be 2% for pre-commission boil out and 0.5% for passivation following acid cleaning. CHEMTREAT AH3 should not be added to the boiler in powder form but should be dissolved in water and then added to the boiler.
